Who Are We?
Who are we? - We are a group of Triathletes who are currently coaching or being coached. Like most of our community, we were disappointed with the lack of available coach options so we decided to do something about it. Some time ago we set up a local coach community that offered the ability for local ‘stars’ to coach and support local ‘athletes’ who were looking for a cost effective, impactful way of improving their performance. This has been such a success we decided we would take the concept and build this service for all of the ‘star’ and ‘Athletes’ out there that were looking for a way to help each other out.
What is this service? Our sport is the fastest growing sports community on the planet; the possibility exists that within a 10 miles radius of where you sit, there are hundreds of people involved in our sport with information that could benefit you. Some will be veterans of the sport, some age group winners, possibly some Hawaii qualifiers, and then there will be the rest of us. We are the community who love the competition, the mental and physical challenge, the physical shape we can obtain through training and racing, and the feeling of beating our previous race times.
The premise behind CoachMe is that we will be able to bring you, the athlete, together with the stars in your sport, to spend one on one time together learning the techniques, the processes and the tricks, to enable you to perform at a higher level. By completing our on line profile, you will let us know what level you are at in our sport, what areas you would like to develop or know nothing about. With this information our rules engine (Think about a dating website) will align you with a local coach who has the skills that you are looking to improve upon. This could be one well rounded star or several stars, depending on your requirements. You can then immediately move to a calendar home page for each coach and block out a time for you to meet, train, learn and improve your performance. How easy is that?
This gives you the opportunity of training for a few weeks with a local star who consistently posts 36 minute 10k when they race Olympic distance, improving your run and offering you the inside information that they have gained through years of training. The following several weeks you switch to a swim coach, again, one who is consistently out of the water amongst the front pack in all the races they enter, triathlon or simply just swimming. The next few weeks you may decide to take a break from being coached and focus on your newly gained skills, returning the following week to train with a local star who manages to post 25 Mph bike times in their half ironman races; how do they do that? What bike, tires, wheels do they use and why? What training routine do they use and why? Am I pedaling efficiently? Maybe even using one of these sessions to ride on a computrainer under the supervision of the coach. You can see how this would continue to become specific to your training and needs as a triathlete?
There are no long term commitments like other plans; you are not stuck with one coach who has a specialization but lacks other skills that you need; you have an actual person who you can communicate with about your goals; you also have an online plan and other training tools that will always be available to you while you continue to use the CoachMe service.
We want this web space to become your one stop location for all things Tri. As we grow in number, we will be listening to you, what you need next, what you would like to see on the site, as well as bringing the coaches that are working with you the tools that you will both see value in.
The future of this service holds a great deal of promise, we have many ideas of what we would see as value, we are here to make this the most valuable tool to you, besides your new star coach!
